Magic Tree House:
Showtime with Shakespeare
Read below about how Title I classrooms can receive free copies of Stage Fright on a Summer Night.
Showtime with Shakespeare is a new musical theatre production based on the Magic Tree House adventure Stage Fright on a Summer Night. Jack and Annie travel back in time to find a special magic in Elizabethan England. There the siblings meet William Shakespeare, author of thirty-seven plays and one of the greatest writers in the history of the English Language. Shakespeare is having trouble with his actors, and Jack and Annie help save the day.
The show is sprinkled with witty references to Shakespeare’s plays yet staged in the style of hip hop. It shares the vivid imagery and complex rhyming couplets of Shakespeare’s verse.
Free copies of Mary Pope Osborne’s Stage Fright on a Summer Night will be distributed to each student from a Title I classroom attending the November 4 School-Time Matinee. When making your reservations, please let Shannon Arney, sld17@psu.edu, know how many copies you need.
Audio Description, which is especially helpful to patrons with sight loss, is available for this performance at no extra charge to ticket holders. Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance of the performance. Phone 814-238-0132 to reserve this service.
