Making the case to your funders

The School-Time Matinee series at the Center for the Performing Arts enhances in-class learning.

School-Time Matinees:

  • Align with a broad range of learning outcomes;
  • Incorporate Pennsylvania State Education Standards to help educators further in-class educational goals;
  • Provide experiential learners with ways to engage with core curriculum areas;
  • Introduce youth to the performing arts at a fraction of the cost of public performances;
  • Help create conditions for everyday awe and places where all learners can thrive.

Educators attend for free

We provide one complimentary teacher/chaperone ticket per 20 student tickets purchased and extend that offer for any paraprofessional or school nurse attending for the safety of any child.

Transportation subsidy available

The Honey and Bill Jaffe Endowment for Audience Development and the Center for the Performing Arts are pleased to offer a limited busing subsidy to assist your school with transportation costs for School-Time Matinees. Ask for details when you make your reservation with Keith Brainard at 814-863-2727, ext. 3, or via email.

Deepening curriculum connections

The arts are a powerful tool to open both minds and hearts. We hope you and your learners will have much to discuss in the classroom, both prior to and after experiencing live performing arts. In addition to the rich, substantive curriculum* we provide for each School-Time Matinee, we team up with the Galaxy Arts in Education program, a partner organization of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Central Intermediate Unit 10, to offer artist residency options that enhance the curriculum integration in your learning environment. For more information about the Galaxy Arts in Education program, contact Karen Woods, Galaxy program coordinator, at kwoods@ciu10.org.
