Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis
Jazz for Young People: Who is Dave Brubeck?
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra School-Time Matinee performance has been canceled.
This interactive concert, narrated by Ted Nash with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis performing, is based on Leonard Bernstein’s legendary Young People’s Concerts of the 1950s and 1960s.
The big band will share its love of jazz with the next generation by celebrating the incredible songs and stories of pianist and composer Dave Brubeck. Through the live performance of some of Brubeck’s greatest works, students will hear why his music remains so popular and enjoyable. The band will perform the unusual rhythms of Brubeck’s record-selling album Time Out, plus his lively and distinctive solo pieces.
