Mindful Making sees art as a meditative activity and aims to provide Penn State students with the space and permission to slow down, de-stress, and build community while adding to their self-care toolkits. Each session is 60 minutes.

Students will create their own stamps and use them to decorate a small piece of art or postcard to be used to write a compassionate letter to their future selves. We will also discuss the benefits of writing as a wellness practice.

Mindful Making sees art as a meditative activity and aims to provide Penn State students with the space and permission to slow down, de-stress, and build community while adding to their self-care toolkits. Each session is 60 minutes.

Students will learn some basic calligraphy lettering and use watercolors to decorate small cards. Using what they learned, they will write affirmations on their cards. If they attended previous sessions, they might put these in their self-care box or journal.

Based on the activity in the body image workbooks created by Health Promotion and Wellness staff members, students will decorate small canvases using paint and collaging images that celebrate who they are and who they aspire to be.
