The public is welcome to observe as members of VOCES8 work with School of Music choirs. Students perform their repertoire for feedback from VOCES8 singers. VOCES8 members also demonstrate examples of technique by performing excerpts of their works. The 80-minute session includes discussion of broader topics in vocal performance.

The public is invited to observe as members of VOCES8 speak to students in a Penn State music survey course (antiquity to 1750) about the skills needed in their process for selecting the works on their programs, the relationship between voice and instrumentation, and maintaining an international presence. The public is invited to take part in a networking lunch, part of the Salad Club Friday series, featuring a facilitated conversation with members of Sybarite5. The one-hour discussion, targeted at entrepreneurs and young professionals, delves into nuances of multi-tiered careers and professional capacities for entrepreneurship and innovation. Each attendee is encouraged to bring his or her favorite salad ingredient.

Sybarite5 performs a concert of works from its repertoire, which includes classics by composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and contemporary works by the likes of British rock band Radiohead.

Free tickets, required for the evening concert, are available at the Misciagna Box Office, Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or at the door. The public is invited to observe soprano Amanda Forsythe coaching Penn State voice students on Baroque and Bel Canto works. Five students are scheduled to perform excerpts of Gioachino Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, George Frideric Handel’s Giulio Cesare, and Henry Purcell’s Music for a While (part of John Dryden and Nathaniel Lee’s play Oedipus). Jennifer Trost, associate professor of voice and vocal literature, hosts the 90-minute master class.
