Delfeayo Marsalis
and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra

7:30 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022

Twice during the heart of the pandemic — November 2020 and February 2022 — Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra brought pleasure to our virtual audiences with jazz concerts from New Orleans. Now, for the first time, Marsalis and his hard-swinging big band will perform live at Penn State.

The trombonist, composer, and producer has toured the world with his band and with jazz luminaries including Art Blakey, Ray Charles, Slide Hampton, Elvin Jones, and Max Roach. He’s also produced more than 120 albums, one of which earned him a Grammy Award. The Uptown Jazz Orchestra, a mainstay in New Orleans jazz clubs since 2008, emphasizes groove, riff playing, and polyphonic improvisation.
