Trudeaus contribute $5,000 for matching gifts on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 1

Thanks to the generosity of George and Debbie Trudeau, gifts made to the Center for the Performing Arts on #GivingTuesday will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000. The single gift maximum match is $500.

#GivingTuesday contributions will benefit the George Trudeau Endowment for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The endowment honors George Trudeau for his achievements as director of the Center for the Performing Arts. He is scheduled to retire on Dec. 31 after more than 16 years as the head of the performing arts center. 

“I am so honored by the creation of this endowment,” he said. “Debbie and I are very pleased to be making our own gift to help increase the annual support the endowment will provide for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the Center for the Performing Arts.” 

The #GivingTuesday campaign, which began on the morning of Nov. 30, runs through Dec. 1.

Make a gift to the endowment. 

“We are excited to be making this gift, and to join with the 80 others who contributed to establish an endowment to support diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the Center for the Performing Arts,” the Trudeaus said. “We hope this encourages others to join with us to grow this endowment during the #GivingTuesday campaign.”

This year’s #GivingTuesday marks the sixth year that Penn State has participated in the international celebration of philanthropy, but this is the first time the Center for the Performing Arts is participating. The day of giving highlights the achievements of faculty, staff and students across Penn State, seeks to raise funds for a variety of initiatives and is one of the university’s most successful fundraising efforts. 

Last year, Penn State’s #GivingTuesday celebration broke institutional records by generating more than 7,600 gifts in less than 48 hours. In total, the 2019 event raised more than $710,000 to benefit more than 85 Penn State programs and initiatives.
