and guests Bill T. Jones and Janet Wong

7:30 pm Wednesday, April 28, 2021

Welcome to episode seven of Meeting the Moment with Michael Mwenso

This installment features Bill T. Jones, an innovative force in contemporary dance for four decades, and Janet Wong, associate artistic director of New York Live Arts.

Mwenso, a Harlem-based cross-genre artist and leader of jazz-funk band The Shakes, is partnering with the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State to provide opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to engage in thought-provoking conversations that speak to the topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Jones is a Tony Award-winning multi-talented artist, choreographer, dancer, theatre director, and writer. He is the artistic director, co-founder, and choreographer of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company and artistic director of New York Live Arts.

Wong leads the performance and humanities programming with Jones at New York Live Arts. She has worked with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company since 1996, first as rehearsal director. A projection designer, she has designed all of the dance company’s multimedia works since 2006. She also collaborates with artists such as Aaron Landsman, Daniel Bernard Roumain, and Heidi Latsky.

The free live conversation will be broadcast via the Zoom video app, and questions will be taken in real time from audience members through the chat function.
