Welcome to episode eleven of Meeting the Moment with Michael Mwenso

This recorded and edited installment of the program features Soul Science Lab, a duo created by emcee and songwriter Chen Lo and composer and producer Asante Amin.

Mwenso, a Harlem-based cross-genre artist, educator, and leader of Black roots band The Shakes, partners with the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State to provide opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to engage in thought-provoking conversations that speak to the topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Soul Science Lab specializes in music and multimedia production, live performance, and culturally responsive arts education. Working at the intersection of music, culture, and technology, the music artist duo has developed and delivered numerous arts education workshops for students, educators, and intergenerational audiences for seven years.

Lo, who graduated from Penn State with a degree in media studies, and Amin have collaborated to produce and facilitate arts programs with arts institutions including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Harlem Stage, SXSWedu, Classical Theater of Harlem, and others. They have brought their unique approach to music and cultural arts education to a series of international organizations and conferences in Ireland, Ghana, South Africa, and Brazil.

Watch the event beginning at noon Monday, April 18. It will be available for streaming until noon Friday, April 22.
