The Center is a partner in the Performing Arts & Disability Collaborative, a colloquium of the Humanities Institute at Penn State. Throughout the 2026–27 year, disability advocates and scholars will host events centered on the topic of the intersection of the performing arts and disability.
The goal of the Performing Arts & Disability Collaborative is to raise disability awareness in the cultural space and to reorient the understanding of the range of human creative expression.
The monthly events will feature panel discussions, performances by local and national artists, and lectures by disability scholars of various disciplines. Topics will include racial and disability justice, communication through performance, and the underrepresentation of artists with disabilities in the cultural sphere.
