Campus Comedy Night
Marcello Hernández Live
Opener: Matt Richards

7:30 pm Friday, March 22, 2024

The Rs will roll with laughter at the second annual Campus Comedy Night. The presentation, organized by Penn State students, will be a feature presentation of Marcello Hernández Live.

Hernández is a Cuban-Dominican standup comedian, writer, and actor — and a featured cast member on the forty-eighth season of Saturday Night Live.

Hernández started performing standup when he was 18, and he has toured all over the country. He has opened for headlining comedians such as Jo Koy, Dave Chappelle, Tim Dillon, Colin Jost, and Gilbert Gottfried.

The first-generation Latino-American comedian has performed at comedy clubs throughout New York and Miami, as well as on Telemundo’s Acceso Total and NBC’s 6 in the Mix. He was selected as a Just for Laughs Comedy Festival New Face of Comedy in 2022.

Richards is an actor, comedian, and writer currently starring in the Comedy Central Studios film Run for the Money with Beck Bennett and Joel McHale; as the host of A&E’s food-travel series Best in Chow; and in a recurring role as “New Homeowner” in the Progressive Insurance commercials.

Campus Comedy Night was created with the help of the Center for the Performing Arts Student Advisory Council and arts engagement assistants. Now in its third year, the council features Penn State students from organizations and colleges throughout University Park that represent various topic areas, including the performing arts, minority identities, STEM, and student government.
