Mexico Beyond Mariachi
presents Sugar Skull!
A Dia de los Muertos Musical Adventure
When young Vita questions why her family is planning a celebration of deceased loved ones, she is taken on a magical, musical journey into Mexico to unravel the meaning of the Day of the Dead. It’s a time when loved ones are remembered and the bonds between the living and deceased are celebrated.
Mexico Beyond Mariachi’s five-member ensemble dramatically illustrates the traditions of Mexico’s music and dance culture with interwoven stories, legends, and myths. The journey begins more than 2,000 years ago with Mesoamerican civilization and travels through time to show how geography, climate, and foreign influences have affected today’s cultural and artistic modes of expression.
The performance occurs during National Hispanic Heritage Month.
